The Sweet Peas room program provides an atmosphere that is comfortable, safe, secure, and very loving. Infants are stimulated through constant interaction with the entire staff. Some of the various forms of stimuli used may include singing and talking to the babies, and through various forms of exercise and play. Infants learn by using their senses to explore the world around them. We provide a variety of activities to allow them to freely, but safely explore as well as gain experience socializing, communicating, and being independent, always with a caregiver there to guide them. We utilize basic sign language to aid in communication as well, and have a daily report for each child at pick up. We invite all parents in the Sweet Peas room to visit and call as much as you would like.
Every infant in our infant program is assigned a crib when they begin La Marina/North Torrance Infant Care Academy. The will use that crib until they graduate into the next room.

The toddler program at La Marina/North Torrance Infant Academy focuses on exploring their environment. At this age, they gain socializations skills, begin to develop language ability, and play with their peers. They also gain more control over their fine and gross muscle groups through a variety of stimulating art activities.
In the Butterfly room they will begin to learn to sit at circle time, and will develop a longer attention span for stories and singing. They will also be introduced to colors, shapes, numbers, and the alphabet. It is very important for children of this age to be provided with numerous activities because they learn through interaction.
La Marina/North Torrance Infant Care Academy follow a child- centered curriculum, meaning that we are focused on modeling respect, being a part of our children’s play, but knowing when to step back and observe. We follow a school wide curriculum each month. Each teacher then plans a calendar of activities and projects based on their group’s development. We pride ourselves on excellent ratios and working on each child’s needs individually. We continuously embed all the core concepts into each activity so that children are academically, socially, and emotionally prepared for Kindergarten when their time at our school comes to an end. At graduation all children receive their diploma and a handmade scrapbook put together by all their teachers as they move through the program.
